Grace on Thin Ice by Mary Hoffman

Grace is a girl who is full of adventures. She lives with her ma and her Nana. Her friends are Aimee, Maria, Kester, Raj and Crishell. In this story Grace and her friends decide to go ice skating on their own in the park. One day they don't go to school but go to the park instead. This is very naughty. The ice cracks and Crishell falls into the very very very icy water! Her friends try to pull her out but she is very heavy for them. Then Grace sees a man and asks for help. when she hears his voice she knows it's her mums friend Vincent. He calls the ambulance and fire brigade who arrive just as Maria, Raj and Kester pull Crishell out of the water. The firemen put ladders on the ice and they crawl back. They all go straight to the hospital and Crishell has to stay overnight. On Saturday all the children and parents meet at Crishells house. All the parents are very angry. Vincent said that they were very brave to rescue Crishell and that they have already had their punishment because they were all so scared. They all promise they will never do anything like it again. I liked this story because it tells you if you ever bunk off school something bad might happen because there are no grown-ups with you.

Horrid Henry's Underpants by Francesca Simon and Tony Ross

Horrid Henry is a horrid boy and has a brother called Perfect Peter. This book is part of a series of Horrid Henry books.

Horrid Henry has a great Aunt who thinks that he is a girl. Usually for birthday she sends him a 'walkie talkie teasy weezy burby slurpy doll' or a 'Princess Pamper Parlour', or 'Baby Poopie Pants'. This year, because he is a big girl now, she has sent him a pair of frilly pink lacy knickers decorated with glittery hearts and bows!

Henry's friend Rude Ralph came round to play with Horrid Henry, so he stuffed his new pants at the back of his pants draw so that Ralph would not see them, because if he did Henry's name would be mud, forever!

Because he overslept the next morning, Henry had to dress in a hurry and didn't realise until he was at school that he was wearing the pink frilly knickers. Recently Henry had started a craze of 'debagging' his friends and was afraid they would debag him and see his pants. He couldn't find any pants in the 'lost and found' that fitted and Perfect Peter wouldn't swap pants with him. Henry took his frilly pants off and hid them in the toilets. During lunchtime and last play Henry dodged his friends so they couldn't debag him. After last play he thought he was safe, but Miss Battle-Axe, his teacher, said 'time to change for P.E'. Henry whispered to Miss Battle-Axe that he didn't have any pants on. She said loudly 'Lost your pants ay, this is your lucky day Henry' and pulled out his pink frilly pants from her pocket for him to wear and Henry screamed 'keep them away from me!'

I like it because it is very cheeky!
